I am still constantly amazed at people's accomplishments! All these PRs and first places are great inspiration. Good job. As to yesterday's workout, yes Jason baseball was fun. I kept thinking about Pete Rose (for those of you old enough to know who that is). Anyway, his reputation was (and he said) that he had little natural ability but that he was willing to work hard (hence, the name Charlie Hustle). I'm no Pete Rose, but that concept is sort of me in a nutshell. I may not be good, but I'll sure keep trying. But, I'd never bet on the game.)

Brian great job that is an awesome time. Also great job to Karin as well!!

Lori, your Pete Rose or 'Charlie Hustle' reference is an excellent comparison to you...not that you have "little natural ability" cause you do and you have proved it, but your hard work, or never give up attitude is evident...especially last night when you where determined to overcome your fear of box jumps. It only took a little coaching and you started making the box jumps look easy. Great job.
Also Brian and Karen both did a great job on their 2k row PR's. Come on "Nooners" its your turn for the 2k row's...can you keep pace with the evening crew?
Posted by: Brandon | April 30, 2009 at 09:09 AM
Personally I think that without Llyod the Nooners have been slacking a little. I think that they miss him quite a bit as we all do.
Posted by: Jason | April 30, 2009 at 09:25 AM
I know that Lloyd is missing the gym just as much as the gym is missing him. He was still hurting a bit when I saw him at church last Sunday.
Lori.. great post! Yes Pete Rose is very inspiring! And great job on the box jumps. Hopefully we'll meet one of these days :)
Today's "Elizabeth" really took me to the cleaners. I don't remember ever doing cleans before, and my only experience with front squats was with pvc. So having to learn and then do from the floor, full squat, cleans was new. The movement was unnatural. Nevertheless... It was humbling and humiliating that all I could do was 42 lbs, and barely do that at the end.
I'm definately one that doesn't have the natural talent, but I'm slowly finding tenacity in me and am less likely to give up (this time).

Doug Decker's 'Dungeon' WOD
My friend Josh joined again. That is 3 in a
row for him and he pushed through
5 Rounds for time
135 deadlift - 10 Reps
20 pushups
Josh: 12:57
Doug: 6:20
The push-ups surprise you on this one.
We are going to try to get to the CFT gym this saturday.

Doug Decker: I am pleased to see that you've had Josh Guthmann in your DD-Dungeon three-days in a row!!! For CrossFit... no gimp stuff ~ "cuz homie don't play that!" HAhahahha!!! (takin' us back to the early 90's)
anyhow ~ back on target...
The CrossFit Tulsa Kuwait Crew did “Fight Gone Bad” with a mod for our low 8-foot-ceilings and no C2-Rower, as follows:
Three 5-minute rounds “for Reps” with 1-minute between each round, where each round consists of 5-exercises that last 1-minute each. The clock does not stop from the beginning of round-1 until the end of round-3, thus totaling 17-minutes (no extra “switch” time between stations… thus the 1-minute station is effectively reduced to a 45-second station).
1 minute WallBall, 20#ball, 8ft-target
1 minute Sumo-DeadLift-HighPulls 75#
1 minute 20-inch BoxJumps
1 minute PushPress 75#
1 minute KettleBell-Swings 70#
Rishi-G: 184
Marcus-R: 254
Steve-T: 170
Kevin-L: 189
Coach-B: 334
Doug Decker: I still am impressed with your posting from yesterday of 36-inch box-jumps… Amazing!!! …you’ve inspired me! I’ve got a 36-inch platform here ~ I think I’m gonna’hafta to try this!!! PS: Doug, our very own Paddy (Pat Harker 918-855-7182 pharker43@aol.com) moonlights as a genius-engineer, building cool stuff… you should give him a call if you get too burned-out trying to go at it alone and need to hire someone with such skillz.
Brandon Wykoff: Sir! I am still impressed your attempt (and DNF) of the Navy SEALS WOD... at least you got your your 2k sub-7's!
And your description of the pain... Niiicely painted picture! In the (in)famous words of Billy Clinton, "I feel your pain!" :)

Is anyone else doing the Full Moon 5K Run on May 9th? Jerimiah and I are signing up. I can't go very fast, but at least I know I can finish it. :)

Jason,
I look forward to getting back and attempting to join the "sub 7" rowing group. I am going to try to ease back into the gym next week but I will definitely not be doing any of the olympic lifts for several more weeks. Only body weight and running for a bit longer. Jason, I'm sure you will make us proud this weekend and I look forward to hearing about the experience. Hey Crossfit Tulsa-Kuwait, keep up the good work!!!
