Sarah and Barbara tackled the push jerk today. They have never really been excited about heavy lifting, especially over their heads but I assured them that if the form is there they don't need to be concerned about the weight. Also, instead of 1 rep max, I had them do sets of three. They got more exposure to the movement that way and it wasn't quite as heavy.
Sarah started at 32lbs and ended up at 65lbs for her last two sets. I think she was surprised to have handled that much weight. The movement was totally new to her, and we spent some time on the timing of the dip and drive and the catch position. Once she got the hang of it she really accelerated with the weight.
Barbara started at 22lbs and ended up at 27lbs for her last 4 sets. She had some issues with the dip and drive, but when she got the hang of it she did great.
I played around with the weights at the end. I did five rounds of 3 reps and stayed at 90lbs for the last two sets. I tried not to go too heavy and quit adding weight when I really felt it in my belly.

for set-five, I attempted 225 and didn't get it up all the way, so then I attempted 205, and still didn't get it up all the way, and then amazingly, I put on 185, and was able to execute! ...so I stayed with 185 for sets 6 & 7
